April 21 HSC Work Day

The weather is warming and the flowers are blooming, so it must be time for our annual Spring HSC Work Day! This is a great event for new members who are looking for the opportunity to meet others in the club and get involved.

We hope you will join us at the Spruce Run State Park boat launch area at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 21 (rain date Sunday, April 22). We need all the hands we can get in order to get the club ready to go for the summer!

As of April 11, all classes are full except for Session 1 of Youth learn-to-sail (session on June 25-27, 2012).

We are looking forward to a great summer! Classes are filling:

Session 1 of Adult Learn-to-Sail is now full (session held June 21-23, 2012). Please register for adult sailing lessons for Session 2 (July 5-7), which still has space (as of March 21).

Session 2 of Youth Learn-to-Sail is now full (session held June 28-30). Please register for youth sailing lessons for Session 1 (June 25-27).

Come, meet club members and learn about the Hunterdon Sailing Club, sailing lessons for youth and adults, racing and other activities.

As of this writing, space is still available in all sailing classes. We offer learn to sail classes for beginners, for separate classes adults and youth (ages 11 & up). Sailboats are provided! Additional information included on the “Join Us” page of this website

For more information, come to meet us on Sunday, March 25, at Riley & Jake’s Restaurant, 1831 State Highway 31, Clinton, NJ 08809 (Formerly the Sunset Inn). Come at 12:30 and order lunch; or at 1:30 for the information meeting. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Spruce Run 2012 boat storage application

For those of you who want to apply for a boat storage spot on Spruce Run and did not receive a copy of the electronic application from the state this year, the form and accompanying cover letters from the park are attached. Please remember that the park will not accept any applications received before March 1st. If your fax or email is received before midnight, the park will return it to you and you will have to resubmit it.

Now registering for 2012 Sailing Lessons for Youth & Adults!

It will soon be summer! Once again, the Hunterdon Sailing Club is offering sailing classes for youth (ages 11 & up) and adults, at Spruce Run State Park in June and July. You don’t need a boat to start sailing – sunfish sailboats are provided for the lessons! To register, and for the schedule of classes, see the forms on the “Join Us!” page of our website, www.sailhsc.org.

About Hunterdon Sailing Club

HSC – which is in its 48th year of sailboat racing, training, and fun – is a not-for-profit group dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing. Club events are scheduled from the first week in May until mid October. HSC runs sailboat races in several different types of sailboats every Sunday afternoon from May to October. On Wednesdayevenings from May through mid-August, HSC holds its “Twilight” series in Sunfish sailboats. Each season there are special sailing events, cook-outs, social gatherings and training classes.

The annual HSC membership fee is $95 per family, and all events are run by member volunteers. Members who complete sail training will be eligible to use the club Sunfish saiboats for most scheduled club activities and regattas. New members will also find opportunities to crew aboard the larger Flying Scot, Jet 14, and Daysailer sailboats owned by many of the club members.
