The Hunterdon Sailing Club will hold a meeting for prospective members at Riley & Jake’s restaurant, on Route 31S in Clinton at 12:30 PM on Sunday, February 24th. For those unable to attend, a similar meeting will be held Sunday, March 31st.
For those who already sail or want to learn, the club offers a wide array of low-cost activities, including adult and youth learn-to-sail programs using club supplied boats. A junior program is open to children who will have reached their 11th birthday, by December 31, 2019.
Thousands of sailors have participated with HSC since Spruce Run Reservoir was opened in 1966, and the club is run by volunteers. The cost of membership is only $125 per year for the whole family, with nominal extra fees for instruction. In addition to instruction, the club offers sailboat racing and recreational events, using the club’s dozen or so Sunfish class sailboats and as guests on larger boats owned by cub members. The club also has two safety boats and a pontoon boat for running events. Picnics are a key catalyst to the club’s strong sense of community.
The February 24th doors will open at 12:30 with networking and the option to order lunch for Riley & Jakes menu. At 1:30 PM, there will be an overview of club activities and programs for prospective members. At 2:30 PM there will be a business meeting for current club members and any non-members who choose to stay.
