Fleet #36

Hunterdon Sailing Club has an active Force 5 fleet, with racing in the Spring, Summer & Fall Series (on Sundays), Twilight Series (last Thursday of every month), and two regattas annually just for Force 5 sailors; the Spring Spectacular and Millard Fillmore regattas.  While the Spring Spectacular is awarded to the best scoring sailor, the Millard Fillmore, (in honor of our most mediocre president), is awarded to the most “average” sailor who scores in the middle of the fleet.

The Force 5 is a powerful single-handed racing dingy.  Although one person races the boat, the cockpit is large enough to accommodate two people and provide ample day sailing enjoyment.  This 14’ craft has a 91 square-foot mainsail, rolled deck and an adjustable rig (outhaul, cunningham and vang are adjustable while under sail).  It is easily car topped.  

The Force 5 Fleet at HSC hosted several North American Championships in the past, drawing sailors from across the country, including the Carolinas, Texas, Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana.  Read about the 2015 North American Championship in the Broad Reach newsletter, attached here:   July 2015 Broad Reach
