Learn to Sail a Force 5
PREREQUISITE: Participants must have prior experience with sailing a single-handed boat and must be able to, tack, gybe, sail all points of sail, and sail upwind, crosswind, and downwind. Successful completion of an Adult Learn to Sail class or equivalent experience with instructor approval.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: The Force 5 is a single-handed boat that is slightly larger with more sail area than a Sunfish and has more complex rigging that allows for more control in racing. This one-day class is for competent sailors who would like the challenge of sailing a more powerful and more complex sailboat . Instruction is on Force 5 – bring your own or share the club boats.
COURSE CONTENT: Instructor will teach how to rig and sail the Force 5 plus discuss and practice racing strategies and tactics. The objective is for participants to feel confident in sailing a Force 5 and racing them in club regattas.
CLASS FEE: Free to members
BRING: Life jacket (Coast Guard-approved), closed-toe water shoes, sunscreen, water, lunch, sunglasses (if desired) with a safety strap.
