RC INSTRUCTIONS – Follow the instructions on the Race Record Sheet
Sunday Races: Keep the Clipboard on the See Which Won – The clipboard has a stopwatch at the top and inside are race recording sheets.
Set Up Race Sheet:
o Get the Spelling – first and last name of each racer
o Reference the Handbook – there is a list of many skippers with their sail numbers near the back of the handbook. Also, members information of those who became members by April 30th can be a helpful reference.
Open Fleet: (all boats other than Sunfish)
o Record Racer information on Front Side of record sheet
· first and last name, sail number & type of boat
o Record race results on Back Side of record sheet
o Open Fleet STARTS FIRST – Begin the stop watch when Open Fleet starts.
To turn on the watch – Press “on/off” button and hold it about 3 seconds the until the watch turns on
o Record the Approximate Wind Speed
| Beaufort Scale Force | Description | Wind in MpH |
| Force 0 | Calm – Sea looks glassy | 0 – 1 |
| Force 1 | Light Airs – Glassy ripples on water | 1 – 4 |
| Force 2 | Light Breeze – Smooth Wavelets | 4 – 7 |
| Force 3 | Gentle Breeze – Slight waves no white horses | 8 – 12 |
| Force 4 | Moderate Breeze – Occasional white horses | 13 – 18 |
| Force 5 | Fresh Breeze – Consistent white horses | 19 – 24 |
o Record the time each boat crosses the finish line
o After the last Open Fleet boat crosses the finish line and time is recorded – clear the stop watch by pressing the “on/off” button
Sunfish Fleet:
o Sunfish Fleet STARTS SECOND – record sail numbers as they finish
Completion of Races:
o Take a picture of the front and back of the score sheet – email it to scorekeeper & VC
o Place the completed race sheet in the green folder located in Trailer 1
Wednesdays: The clip board labeled “Wednesday” should remain on the safety boat.
