Youth Training

Youth training classes are tentative pending instructor confirmation.  Links will be posted if the classes are confirmed.  Please check back in March 2024  for more information.  The information below will be in effect if classes are held.

You may register for a training class online, provided that you have completed and paid for your membership first. All training classes are limited in size and spaces are reserved on a first come, first served basis. A swim test is required prior to start of classes.  Students may either provide a third party certification or participate in a HSC swim check.  Third party certification can be a successful swim test from the Scouts, Camp, School, Coach, PADI, Red Cross or other organization.  If you have this certification, please provide this to:  Commodore@sailhsc.org before class.  The Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center (HHWC) in Clinton is partnering with HSC to provide Swim checks.  The Swim check consists of swimming, treading water, and putting on a life jacket while in the water.  The Wellness Center will collect. $5 for each swim check and will require a guardian to sign a release form.  The address for HHWC is 1738 NJ31 N, Clinton, NJ 08809.  All HSC sail training requires a US Coast Guard Approved life jacket/PFD sized appropriately for height and weight.  We recommend a kayaking style.  You must bring your PFD to the Swim check.  Training is taught in sunfish sailboat, boats provided.

Youth Forms and Classes for 2023: The following two forms must be submitted for each student for Youth Learn to Sail 1 and 2 classes and Junior Race Team: 1) Universal Health care Form 2) Medical and Transportation Waiver.  Please click the following link for the forms:   YouthLTSforms2023

Please mail completed forms to: HSC/Mike Wheeler, 8 Oxford Rd., Wharton, NJ 07885. Completed forms may also be submitted at the swim test.

ALL FORMS MUST HAVE A PHYSICIAN SIGNATURE, CONTACT INFORMATION AND VACCINATION RECORD. FORMS MUST BE PROVIDED BY JUNE 12, 2017. YOU MAY SUBMIT THE CHILD’S MOST RECENT HEALTH CARE FORM THAT WAS COMPLETED FOR SCHOOL/SPORTS AS LONG AS THE FORM HAS A PHYSICIAN’S SIGNATURE, CONTACT INFORMATION AND THE VACCINATION RECORDS ARE COMPLETE.
