Afternoon races
Sunday Series
Spring, Summer, and Fall series of 8 Sunday afternoons each. All fleets- Sunfish, Flying Scot, Force 5, Jet 14, and Open fleet race together with separate starts. Races start at 1:30 on the Spruce Run reservoir waters. Awards are given at the end of season Banquet for winners of each series. The racing area is usually in the deeper waters of Spruce Run Resevoire by the dam. The “See Which Won” pontoon boat serves as the Race Committee boat.
Closer to shore, supervised coaching occurs concurrent with the Sunday Race Series with a separate safety boat (skiff) for graduates of the Learn to Sail Program to continue practice.
Evening Races
Sunfish Twilight Series
Two series of 8 Wednesday evenings each. Races start at 6PM on the waters of Spruce Run Reservoir. Championship, Challenger, and Junior divisions. 14 club owned Sunfish are available for use by members whenever a safety boat is on the water and sail training has been completed.
Newly Created
Force 5 Thursdays
Twilight race series the last Thursday of every month at 6PM from April- October, for a total of 6-7 race days for the season. There is one club owned Force 5 available for use by a member who has completed an Adult Learn to Sail class or equivalent experience.
