PREREQUISITE:  A Safe Boating Certificate or driver license ‘BOAT’ endorsement.
                             Race Committee crew experience is preferred but not required.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  This hands-on course prepares participants with knowledge, skills and confidence to chair HSC races as the Principal Race Officer (PRO) as the Principal Race Officer (PRO) through guided instruction and real-world experience.  

COURSE CONTENT:  The instructors provide guidance and hands-on experience launching, driving, and returning safety and pontoon boats, setting race courses based on wind direction, supporting sailors on the water and directing the Race Committee crew for various tasks including starting sequence and flags, recording and reporting race finish results.

CLASS SIZE:  Limited to 5 students per date

CLASS FEE:  Free to members

BRING:  Life jacket (Coast Guard-approved), closed-toe water shoes, sunscreen, water, lunch, sunglasses (if desired) with a safety strap.

SCHEDULE: 10am – 4pm  Morning instruction on shore, lunch break followed by chairing the afternoon races with coaching by the instructors.  This counts toward one RC commitment.
