Annual Regattas

The Top Skipper of HSC, Junior Champions, Two Sunfish Holiday Regattas (Memorial Day and Labor Day), the Little Brown Jug for Open Fleet,  Spring Spectacular, Millard Fillmore for Force 5 Fleet are awarded distinctive trophies at the Annual Banquet

Top Skipper

The Commodore’s Cup and Blue Nose Challenge determine the best skipper of HSC.  All members are invited to compete in the Commodore’s Cup with any boat under the Portsmouth System.  Only top ranking skippers are invited to compete in the Blue Nose Challenge and all race the same one-design boat.

Junior Regattas

The Sam Nelson Regatta is open to all members under the age of 18.  It is sailed in Sunfish and followed by a picnic onshore.  The Walter Finne Trophy is a perpetual award given to the highest placing junior under the age of 15 in the Sam Nelson Regatta.

Sunfish Regattas

The popular Sunfish Fleet of HSC hosts two holiday Regattas- the Memorial Day Open, and the Labor Day Classic.  The fleet hosts a SANJL race (Sailing Association of North Jersey Lakes) which invites sunfish sailors from surrounding regions to join with the HSC sunfish fleet.

Force 5 Regattas

The Force 5 Fleet hosts the Spring Spectacular and the Millard Fillmore Regattas. While the Spring Spectacular awards the best scoring sailor for the day, the Millard Fillmore awards the most average scoring sailor, in honor of our most average past president, Millard Fillmore.  The fleet hosted National Championships twice in past years, drawing Force 5 sailors from all over the country.

Open Fleet Regattas

The Little Brown Jug Regatta, held on July 4th every year, is an Open Fleet single day race for different boat classes scored on a handicapped system.  The Annual Ladies Regatta is open to any boat type, includes on the water games, and a LeMans start.  Both regattas encompass the whole lake and are followed by a picnic.
