Saturday July 30th will be HSC’s Seventh Annual Runaround event. Skipper’s meeting will be at 11:45 with a noon start time, finishing around 2 pm. followed by a picnic 2-4. Need a fun break from series racing? This is it. Do not launch your boat and look for a starting line. The runaround begins with a “La Mans Start” where at the start signal participants literally run to their beached or anchored boats and launch as quickly as possible. As if this were not entertaining enough, the race itself is a kind of scavanger hunt encompassing the whole lake and intermixed with various skills such as basketball, sailing backwards, and man overboard drills. Contestants earn playing cards based on their scores; the more cards earned the greater chances of a winning poker hand. This event is open to all HSC members with or without boats and all boat types. Big boat owners are encouraged to take crew, and single-handed boats can earn an extra card for carrying a passenger. The picnic is club provided hamburger/hotdog, potluck last name A-F bring beverage, G-N side dish, O-Z desert.
