It’s cold and gray outside my window but the calendar is ticking towards the day we splash our boats back on Spruce Run and your executive team is busy planning the 2023 season. But we could use your help.A key volunteer position at the club is the Training Coordinator for the Learn to Sail program. This is a great opportunity help kids learn the sport, pick up a few tips yourself, and meet other club members. Best of all, you don’t need to be an accomplished sailor to do it. The Training Coordinator is the person who works with the trainers to make sure everything is ready when sessions begin. Do the instructors have the student list for their class? Have we received the swim check results for everyone? Have we lined up assistants on water and on shore? How about drinks and snacks? This is project management meets water meets fun and you make a big difference to the club doing it. Our past Training Coordinators can coach you on what needs to be done and you’ll have the many experienced members here to help as well. If you’re interested, please get in touch and let me know.
